With the All Sports Championship Trophy already secured, MSU capped off a really solid year for their athletic programs with the MVC Tourney Baseball Championship as well Sunday. MSU won 5 championships in the scoring system used, but had several others as they doubled up in a number of sports with both regular season and tournament championships. MSU pretty well crushed it by winning with an average score almost a full point better than the runner up. Somewhat curiously, since 1995, only three schools [WSU, Illinois State, and MSU] have won this Championship, but you have to be solid across almost all your programs and especially women's sports to do so.
A lot has been made about the financial stress many of the MVC schools including MSU have been under for a while, but I've noted for a number of years here, two trends that I think have kept MSU in position to do really well overall in the near future. One is that they found funding to continue to advance their facilities and infrastructure to where we have a great campus and facilities overall that allow us to compete with major Universities. These include things like learning centers and Student activity Centers that are top notch, as well as our actual stadiums and related athletic facilities. Secondly, our president has done a great job with promoting our overall institution, as enrollment continues to grow and we continue to expand our academic offerings.
All that and we got rid of Paul Lusk to; Great time to be a Bear.
