It'll be good to have some teams ready to go in case our current contenders take a step back after this season. 2019-2020 is the year I'm very bullish on Valpo competing as well.

Who sez it will be good? Ha-just kidding--I suspect Valpo, Bradley (especially if their 7-footer works out, and UNI to be much better a year from now--maybe this season-who knows?

Isn't Bradley losing a lot of production after this year?

I think Ford wants his own guys and he thinks Webster fits his style of play better than Lawrence does.

I originally thought we could compete at the top of the conference this year but I really think Ford is planning on this being a rebuilding year and the following year is when we compete for conference titles.

There is no thinking to it. Ford knows exactly what it takes to win in the Valley and he's going after it. In HCDF's eyes, he's upgraded over what was here when he was hired. Every coach is looking to land the best players to win. If that's putting us in trouble for the future recruiting, I will take it.

I have "high" hopes for this year (stay out of the PIG) but you're right, 2019/2020 is the year the Bears will be aiming to win the thing.

Not a lot. There will be 3 seniors on this year's team. The biggest contributor is DLO. Bradley will really miss his defense after this season, though I've heard Pittman (who redshirted last year after playing 2 seasons) is even better defensively, at least in practice. The other 2 seniors are Luuk Van Bree and Luqman Lundy. Both are nice pieces who will help this season, but when looking ahead to 2019-2020, Bradley will still be pretty good. After the 2019-2020 season is when the majority of their production will be lost (Brown, Kennell, Hodgsen, Bar, Pittman and a new JuCo kid Bile).

I can't believe SIU may go into 2019-20 without a proven Big---Bol, Pippen and Stradieks are all Seniors this coming season--we have an unproven red-shirted 6-9 freshman guy (Amadou Fall) so unless we pick up a stud Frosh for 2019 recruiting we are talented but short---6-2 Aaron Cook, and 6-2 Eric McGill will be Seniors and The Beanes are 6-3 and 6-5. So calling all 6-9 plus guys who want to play--a lot. I don't think we will get a transfer--but who knows?

Bradley has one senior who projects as a starter, Dwayne Lautier Ogunleye. Luuk van Bree is a rotation guy and Luqman Lundy doesn't play.
