There were some unique circumstances and other schools did not view UNI as an RPI killer. I'm guessing it will be come more and more difficult to maintain a schedule like that for UNI, particularly if they have another mediocre season like last year.
I'm half confused why it's not possible for other schools?
Are you admitting UNI is the only one with name recognition to do so yearly? That would seem to contradict that idea that we are nothing but a directional public school no one cares about that is only good once every 5 years.
I'm genuinely curious as to why UNI is the only one that has the ability to schedule decently.
The idea that it's about name recognition kind of flies out the window when we are looking at historical SOS rankings for UNI. If it was about name the schedules before the start of the 2010/2011 season would be poor, but they are.

In the last 25 years, only once has UNI had a SOS over 200 and that was 1998 - 20 seasons ago. Only 4 other seasons over 150, the most recent of those is 2003. 19 seasons with SOS under 125 and 13 at 100 or lower. Those are including MVC games.
Until the last 10-12 years UNI was the absolute laughing stock of the MVC. Smallest budget, worst program, etc. Yet still had SOS that weren't atrocious.
I'd love to get reasons why it's impossible for others.
