Golden: ESPN+ is a bait-and-switch

ESPN+ was the long-term plan all along for ESPN3 back when they introduced this. Every AD, Conference commissioner knew this was in the works long before fans and the public knew they were coming out with the service.

To be honest, I think it's 100% worth it. $5 a month or $50 for a annual subscription is completely worth it to me. The era of getting "free" content is coming to an end in many industries.

I think it's worth it too. But I don't think there's any doubt it will reduce exposure. Casual fans of each MVC school that tuned in for games on espn3 won't pony up the $5 like us hard core fans will.

How many people do you think casually streamed MVC games on ESPN3? The one thing with streaming--its not like you just stumble upon it flipping channels.

In talking about the upcoming season quite a number have told me they won't pony up the 5 bucks a month. Maybe it's just people being cheap in my area but I'll bet it's the same in most MVC footprint areas.

They should come to more home games as a form of protest! Support your school and stick it to the man at the same time! What could be better?

Im skeptical of people who say those things. It's like the people who said they stopped watching the NFL because of whatever side of the anthem thing they fell. The people who wanted to watch, still watched. I can't imagine $5/month being that big of a deal maker/breaker but who knows.

Yeah, and you only need it for four months (November-February). Like it says above $20 per season. That's nothing. Cancel every February and renew every November. If you have season tickets then you just need the away games which is about $1.33 per game (based on the average of 15 games). If you don't go to any games then it's about $0.67 per game (based on the average of 30 games). Either way that's a great deal it's just a change from free and people are resistant to change but I'll pay $1.33 per game to see my favorite team play all day, every day.
