I can’t think of a higher rated recruit than Sam in the conference.

A couple more years back, but Kevin Ault was a Street and Smith 3rd team HS All America and was on USA Todays Super 25 list.

Geno Ford brought some top 100 players to Bradley. Mike Shaw transferred in from Illinois and was ranked 40th per 247 but injuries kept him limited. Josh Cunningham came in straight out of HS 88th and transferred to Dayton when Geno was fired.

Ault was a heck of a player.
We would guard each other playing pick up a few years ago, we were both significantly easier to guard in our 30’s!! Hahaha

Kevin was always a much debated player; Mr. Indiana coming out of HS, he was seen as a top recruit by some national pundits, and as overrated by others because of his lack of athleticism. When he chose to come play at MSU for his boyhood idol, Alford, he was quickly downgraded as are many prospects when they chose a non name school. Even while in the MVC he was often a bit overlooked, but besides his shooting the thing that stood out to me was his BBIQ . I think he still is #1 alltime on the MSU steals list, and he had one of the best head and shoulders fakes i've seen. Not one of those exaggerated ones, very subtle, but effective at getting defenders to commit, and of course once they did, he was lights out at the foul line. Because of his overall game i always rated him ahead of guys like Ahearn, Leonard, etc; great shooters all, but Kevin's game had alot of intangibles others didn't.
