Two weeks ago I'd have felt pretty good betting on Martin on Lansing. Right now I might vote for Jacobson.

I thought Lansing was a shoe in, until they went on their slide and showed they are who we thought they were.

It will be the coach of the team whoever wins the MVC (unless it is Marshall, then it will be the 2nd place team) - Martin or Jacobson.

The way some of our teams have been overperforming this year makes me think that the valley could be really good overall the next couple of years.

It seems that teams like UNI, WSU and Mo St. were expected to be good this year and the next couple, but now you are seeing teams like E-Ville (can't believe I'm saying this) and Indiana St. turn the page.

Of Course Creighton has always been around the top if not on top.

Speaking for the redbirds I can tell you that we are really excited about our chances the next couple years given the fact that we are young this year and should be peaking in 1-2.

Once BU gets healthy they should be good too.

Even though Drake is down with us, they have some really good young talent. (I really like how Rice can just take over a game. He is the new Osiris)

It could be an exciting next couple of seasons for the Valley.

Do you have anything good to say about our players? Have you ever tried the half-full glass approach, or is everything negative?

Hopf is recovering from a major injury, and in my opinion, looks pretty good as he plays for 15-18 minutes a game. He works hard for positioning, has good footwork, and finishes well around the rim.

Pieter grew up as an European style player and has had to learn to play around the post. He is tall, lacks strength, but has developed over time to be a battler.

Lacey is a Combo Guard who has been told to play Point Guard. Do you understand the mental transition that it takes to play the Point when one does not have the natural quickeness required to penetrate and dish or guard the opposing team's PG? God bless him for doing what he does for us.

It is so easy to sit at the bar, drown some beers and find fault with individual players.

acedad I will give you credit you back the Aces with great passion. Trust me I respect that! However, PVT no matter how hard he plays is still not as talented as other mvc bigs. Hopf is no where near as good as he was last year when he went down against my panthers. Finally Lacy who may be an alright player should not be playing the Point as much as he does! Atleast on the defensive end. I however do give credit to both Hopf and Lacy for working through knee injuries from the past. With all this said talent wise they are 9 or 10 in the confrence, but that doesn't matter and Simmons is proving that...AND THAT IS WHY I POSTED THIS SAYIN HE SHOULD WIN COACH OF THE YEAR.

You might want to check some stats before you speak. Through the 21 games played, Colt Ryan has attempted 244 field goals. My calculator says that is 11.6 attempts per game, not 20.

fair enough you looked up the stats I didn't but it seems to me Colt and the team can be better off if he attacks first then thinks to shoot..because he is not a bad player off the dribble...

Anyways, the point I am trying to make is Simmons is winning with less talent.

I'm a long-time UE fan..I've seen good years and really bad times. One thing about our team. ... we are that..a team. We often don't look pretty out there on the court, but somehow the guys hang in there and often come out with a win. Marty played with passion when he played here as a Purple Ace. He is getting focused, intense play out of the team...yeah, a team of overachievers....I think that is the sign of a great coach. We will just have to wait to see what the rest of the season brings. I predict some upsets by our Aces.
