I think there's a better chance of Hinson keeping his players out of jail than Mueller. I also think that Hinson is the better coach. Mueller just happens to be a better recruiter.

IT'S MULLER! And we will see which one is a head coach in a power 5 conference first! And remind me again when the last time Hinson won the Coach of the year award! Or coached a team in the MVC Championship game!

Actually Barry was MVC coach of the year in 2016, just one year prior to Muller in 2017, and I think Barry's been in the MVC championship game either 3 or 4 times; like Muller he can't seem to win it. I think it's safe to say Barry probably isn't going to a P-5 at this stage in his career; he seems more suited to a role like head of athletic advancement where his public speaking and potential for glad handing donors would be an asset. Have always thought he might return to MSU in such a role when he's done coaching as his parents still live in the area and he still has a favorable relation with some of the bigger business men in the area. Barry's Barry; always a very polarizing figure as a head coach, a guy who has his fanatics and his big detractors both.

I think what's funny is how pissy a few ISUr posters are being about a simple preseason poll in which their team got plenty of respect, and in which SIU has as much reason to be picked where they are, which is evidenced by the fact a majority[slim] of other fan bases thought so as well as this vote wasn't SIU only driven.

You have to be realistic at looking at the big picture. How many NCAA tournament berths and tournament wins?
We remember records because it's our conference but the rest of the world doesn't remember who gets second, third in the conference.

As an SIU fan I could care less where we are picked it’s where we finish that counts. Since Hinson is the “Dean” of the Valley and has never won either a Conference regular season title or tournament title I am going to go with the Missouri state motto “Show Me” you can win something other than a meaningless press conference. This certainly is his most talented team at SIU it’s now or never for Hinson.

Maybe we should have a poll who has the most thin-skinned posters. Before this, I would have easily voted for UNI, but the Muller supporters certainly appear defensive. Bragging that he will get a P5 job before Hinson. Come on, if he is so damn great, how about trying to keep him in Blo-No? Lighten up, it's a freaking poll. I dont think there is much satisfaction in Springfield when reflecting back on last season..but we were picked top on the MVCFan board!!

I agree this is the do it or die year for Hinson. They probably should win the league, but I will vote Loyola because they simply earned the right with the Final 4 run.

In my overall experience

1-Wichita State
2- NDSU Football
3- The two Redbird guys on here. Trash talk is fun but I don't understand this.

I am surprised the vote reads 27-27 but SIU got the nod, but I'm not up in arms. There are 30 games to be played that will determine who the best team is. Not some guys on a message board.

Birds tip in exhibition action in 8 days and I can't wait!

Jonathan Wiley - 5.8ppg
Tyler SmithPeters - 7.7ppg

Total = 13.5 ppg

You did NOT return everyone...stop lying. And when did Hinson become a better coach than Muller (has nothing to do with his punishment habits, but as a coach and recruiter...)

Illinois State lost:

David N'Diaye - 4.3 ppg
Elijah Clarance - 2.7 ppg
Madison Williams - 5.3ppg

Total = 12.3 ppg

We also won 2 of 3 against you last year....thanks for playing.

Quite possibly the worst analysis I've seen in a while....
