Call me old fashioned...but I'm not a huge fan of rankings that have no data to back them up. How does that even work when no games have been played??? Is it based on who pays the most money to their recruits?

I will stick strictly to my local area since I’ve watched these teams 15+ times.

Northwestern
14-17
159 RPI
loses 3 of top 5 scorers

DePaul
11-20
185 RPI
loses 3 of top 5 scorers

Loyola
Final 4
31-6 with 3 L’s in 5-game stretch missing conference POY
14 RPI
returns 1st/3rd/5th/7th/8th leading scorers

BPI rankings
Northwestern 24th
DePaul 76th
Loyola 80th - BPI-projected winner of a league who’s had its winner top 31 of KenPom every year since 2009

The first team I see listed above Loyola when I clicked on the link was DePaul. What a joke. DePaul hasn't won more than 12 games the past 4 years. Yeah, they suck and lost to Bradley all the time when Bradley had mediocre teams.

What a joke.

As I said above unless youre a P5, Big East, or Wichita, Nevada, or Gonzaga they wont take you seriously.

Even still, they have Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, Purdue and Ohio State ranked over Michigan--last year's runner-up and Big 10 tourney champs. These rankings are a joke in every respect.

Their metrics are everywhere, even for the power conferences.

These can be safely tossed in the garbage bin on principle alone.

I think I read somewhere before last season that BPI can't be trusted until a handful of games have been played. Their preseason rankings are heavily influenced by last season. Still don't know about DePaul though.

Yeah I wouldn't get too excited about these good or bad; this isn't a poll but a statistically based predictive system that has no base until multiple games get played. It's like rpi in the first week or two of the season, no real value or validity. It'll change dramatically in a week or two of play.
