I highly doubt the new NET system was created to give Mid-majors the opportunity to get more at-large bids. I’m sure 18-15 SEC teams will still make it in over MVC teams still.

NET certainly appears flawed, but I think had this rating system been in place two years ago, ISU’s 17-1 conference record probably gets them in the tournament. It rewards winning, specifically winning by 10+ points, regardless of level of competition. That may not be the worst thing for the MVC. Having a week team in your conference won’t hurt as much provided you take care of business against them. I’d prefer it take into account other factors, like strength or schedule, and more spefically strength of losses (IE a blowout loss to a good team not hurting you as much as a close loss to a bad team), but this is what we’ve got and if the MVC can put together a strong December, and one or two teams can have great conference seasons (3 or less losses, with no blowouts), it could lead to them becoming a 2 bid league again.
