I have nothing to brag about for my Redbirds, we have been brutal as well (hence why I haven't posted much).
However, these Panther fans have blind optimism every year and pretend things are okay throughout. Gotta love the positivity from some of their posters. Paying a coach that much money, you have to pretend things are better than they are the last few years to find a way to justify that salary.
Refreshing change from the negative nellies.
None of us are happy with what's gone on this year. Two horrible recruiting classes in a row that are now Juniors and Seniors have left us in a spot where we're just not very good right now. Watching some of the near misses in those classes (Kriener and Pemsl) make it even more maddening. However, you can't look at Wednesday night's game and not notice that we were MUCH better than we have been at any point since the Old Dominion back to backs. Hopefully a win on Saturday gets some energy back heading into league play. If not, so be it.
Being negative does us no good. Its not like Jake's seat is anywhere near warm and even if this would continue it's not like we've got $8M lying around to move on. The last two years have been much better recruiting wise and the good fortune of having AJ Green fall into our laps will pay huge dividends in the future.
Are we a Thursday team? Probably, but this just kind of feels like a program reset right now. The talent level in the younger classes (Green, Pickford, Phyfe, Berhow) and the three we've got coming in next year (Henry, Carter, Betz) set a really good foundation. We're absolutely down right now but the future looks good.
