It was just one game but, it was a conference road win. Add in that the Bears played pretty well in SIU and other than the horrible stinker Saturday the Bears don't look that bad in conference play. Valpo has two 7' ers that are capable and the Bears are pretty shorthanded inside right now. For the time being, i'll chalk that up to a bad matchup.

Congrats to the Bears on a solid win. The Church thing is bizarre.

I don't know how bizarre it is, I feel like Missouri State has been in a similar situation before. It certainly frustrating. Even thought he is a senior, he is still a college kid, and sometimes their decision making doesn't align with the way that I think, but it is up to ultimately up to Obi and Coach Ford. The coach can't make him come back to the team, and I am sure there would be repercussions if he did come back at this point.

Maybe he has someone telling him that since the NCAA is granting waivers, he might be granted a hardship due to runoff. It seems very unlikely since he played in 11 games. I wouldn't want to give up my last season of eligibility, and let that decision be made by the NCAA. Some people speculate it could be due to injuries, and while I am certainly not "in the know", that doesn't seem likely either.

It doesn't seem likely that he could step away due to injuries? Did you just start following the Bears this year or something?!?

I'd say that is at the top of the list as to why he may not continue

As a Bears fan I find it borderline bizarre too. Not that a holdover player has left the team after a coaching change. That's normal. What's strange is how long the uncertainty of his status has gone on. It has to be distracting for the rest of the team.

Ummm, no. Calm down there, trigger. Been following for quite some time. Considering he wasn't exactly limited by injury this season, I don't think that's the reason. If that was the issue, why would they not just come out and say it? That would be an easy out.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but I'm almost sure that Dana recruited Church during his time at Illinois State. So the two were at least familiar with each other before Ford got the HC gig. Maybe they didn't have a good relationship which led to Church's commitment to MO State? Who knows.
