McCarty didn't say anything all of us haven't felt for years. He could have thrown a public tantrum inside Knapp and just received a technical. Instead, he calmly gives his opinion to our PBP guy, and Elgin slams a suspension on him.
At some point, Elgin needs to quit shooting the messengers and address this issue. The question isn't whether we could have beaten Drake that night, rather why has horrendously inconsistent officiating been allowed to go on for so long in this league? I think everyone agrees Drake was the better team on Wednesday.

We are drawing from the same pool the Big 12 and Sun Belt do. We've got an aging crop of officials and no interest from younger people to move in because officiating high school games is so awful. The national high school shortage is starting to catch up to the college level.
That's why you have good officials like John Higgins working schedules that no human can possibly be expected to work and do a good job. Higgins schedule last week was Corvallis-Cheyenne-Ames-Des Moines-Chapel Hill-Las Vegas-Fort Collins. How can you not be exhausted from the travel alone?

The previous weekend he did two games in Washington state. I'm guessing all driving, since I don't think officiating pays well enough to fly from Spokane to Seattle to Des Moines to Augusta, GA.
