Official as of today, MSU and Church will part ways

Don't ask what happened, we don't have a freakin' clue either. Best guess is he just couldn't get on board with what Ford needed and wanted.

Very weak of Church. Go all this way to not finish. Not good. Bears squad must be disappointed

We have frankly been playing better without him. At this stage he was fairly limited in what he could do other than block some shots. He would have helped minutes wise since Wojcik went down with injury but if he couldnt get on board with what Dana wants to do then I guess thats on Church.

Really liked watching him and sad to see it end this way. I think in time he will regret this decision.

I've mentioned this before but Dana Ford was on the staff at Illinois State when Obi chose MSU. ISU was very involved with Church. Perhaps that is where the disconnect came? The relationship may have been damaged from the beginning.

I think that may have had something to do with it, but he also should have known that when we hired Coach Ford. I also get that he didn't want to leave the program and school with one year left to go. I just didn't get the logic of leaving when he did. He played in 11 games this year, and will graduate in May. Is he hoping on hope that the NCAA grants him some sort of a hardship waiver for a 5th year, or was it just pride itself? Either one seems like a risk that I wouldn't be willing to take to have to deal with a lifetime of regret ahead of me.

What a sad end to what was a pretty good career.
