Here's a shameless plug for why he's the best freshman in the conference:
- Per game stats 11.1 pts, 3.0 reb, 2.8 ast, 2 to
- Stepped up big time when Norton went down (credit to Noah as well)
- Started on the 1st place Valley team (AJ Green, for example, finished 6th in the conference, 14-17 overall)
- He's one of the best stories in college basketball this year as he went from possibly never playing again, to earning a single scholarship offer, to being crowned Valley Freshman of the Year by me.
Hes not the best Freshman in the conference. I don't know why fans feel the need to do this. He had a really good season. He's a really good player. But he isn't better than AJ Green and he may not be better than Freeman from Valpo. And that's ok.
I thought it was pretty obvious that I wanted to talk up DJ and his great season by making a case for Freshman of the Year. Truth be told, I knew that AJ would get the nod. But since you did not provide any reason other than "AJ Green is better", can you explain to me why Milik Yarbrough wasn't the POY overall? Without question he was the best player this year, right?
