Heck no.

Once this hit national, and once the Charley Steiner piece came out it then became a University issue - not a Bradley basketball or Bradley athletics issue.

The university President was PISSED...with a capital P. Forcing Chris Reynolds to come back to campus from being sequestered in Indy with the NCAA Selection Committee was a bold move. And it wasn't done to "congratulate" him on a job well done.

President Roberts put the hammer down big time. This embarrassed the whole university.

That's awesome the the Bradley president handled the situation like that. He needed to put the hammer down to avoid further embarrassment.

Carrots and sticks. Why do you have to accept everything said about you and Bradley at face value and smile and take it??

If Reynolds is "anti BU" what beat writer should he aspire to be more like who is more positive about the team he/she follows?

I was thinking the same thing. It wouldn't be msu's beat writer Wyatt Wheeler.(that he should aspire to). Wyatt has been openly critical of msu basketball and football. And rightfully so. We were pathetic until this past year (basketball). But msu never "barred" or restricted Wyatt's access.

You don't have to look far. Jim Benson with the Panty, Jim Mattson with WEEK/HOI/ESPN radio, even Dave Eminian with his Rivermen.

Reynolds loved BU when Geno was the coach though because he made his life easier. Reynolds raved about the talent Geno brought in and showered him with nothing but praise until the day he was fired for finishing last. So what you see from him isn't clear eyed objectivity -- it's self interest.

It's hard to be a Bradley fan sometimes after reading what some other Bradley fans have to write.

The same Jim Benson who had the beef with Dan Muller last year? Jim Mattson isn't a beat writer, he's an entertainer.

Reynolds liked Geno because Geno respected him as a professional and let him do his job.

But you blaming Dave R for not having clear eyed objectivity is entertaining.

At least Wardle publicly apologized for the event.

He isn't the first coach or last who has issues with beat writers and what they say/write about the team. The problem here is that no one in an administrative role or media relations role stepped in and stopped this. That doesn't take Wardle off the hook of course. He had too much power in the athletic department. One good thing to come out of this is that some of that power has been given back to the people who should have it. The BU President made sure of this.

Brian is a good guy but he is cut out of the Tom Crean mold 100%.

Could it be that after the NCAA selection committee headed home that The Bradley Athletic Director, Chris Reynolds, had a talk with Brian Wardle and thus we have an apology? This incident happened on March 15th and the apology came out on the 20th (the day after Chris Reynolds returned from the NCAA Selection Committee meetings). I put zero stock in his apology!
