If only Bradley and ISU would become good at the same time, it would be quite the rivalry. Very funny stuff from Darryl Brown

Well, I guess the rules have changed for this year. Nick McGlynn has announced he's accepted a spot on the team.

Update: I guess Townes can't play in the 3x3 due to an injury. Bummer. Our squad lacks guards....

Not on ESPN but will begin Friday 4/5. The stream will be on twitter. Follow @3x3UHoops. The tournament begins with pool play. Here is the MVC's schedule:

4/5- 2:40 p.m. WCC vs MVC
4/5- 5:40 p.m. MVC vs Southland
4/6- 9:30 a.m. MVC vs OVC

We lack guards and will need McGlynn to hit some jumpers but I think we have a shot of going 3-0 here. Teams shouldn't be able to drive on us too well and if helpside is there, shots could get swatted. There will be a lot of driving and kickouts to open 3's. I hope these teams don't shoot too well.

I don't know what I expected, but that was some of the worst basketball I have ever seen.

MVC loses to WCC, Southland and OVC.

If you're a fan of watching guys chucking up well-defended threes then it's the tournament for you. 12 second shot clocks and almost no breaks in the action. Fayne, McGlynn and Dixon were off and looked completely gassed by the end. Fletcher played well. You almost need three players who can shoot the 3 to have a chance.

That's what the game has turned into these days. The three point shot. Probably would be better to abolish the three, and go back to playing the game as is was meant to be played. Just my opinion.

I remember watching some of the tournament last year, and it wasn't as bad a ball as this. This year the teams all took the strategy of after a make, finding an open guy at the 3 pt line and him shooting. Then the winning team became characters from a Rap music video from the mid 2000's. Luckily (I guess) our guys weren't subjected to that stuff.

The MVC team often tried to slow it down some, and run some pick and roll. They did have some success but yep, the 3 ball was the game. If you didn't have 2 guys on the court at all times ready to fire, you lose.

And no, I don't think they should get rid of the 3 point shot. If the game keeps trending the way it is with the best shooters of all time, I could see adding a 4 pt shot. That would extend defenses to picking up all shooters at half court, and make games closer at the end. For example, right now, you might be comfortable with your team having an 8 point lead with 1 minute left, then the other team has to play the foul game. With a 4 point shot, you are two makes away from a tie game, and may eliminate some of the late game fouling that makes the final minute take 10-15 in real time.
