I'm not sure how they do not show signs of continued success when they are recruiting at a much higher level than when they made their run...

That means absolutely zero until (if) they produce. Until then its nothing more than a participation ribbon. It's not really a higher level unless they produce...just perceived higher...not unlike 90% Redbird board who think every player that comes aboard is the savior. Keith is going to be so good. Taylor is definitely coming back to score double digits. Torres is the point guard weve been looking for even though he cant seem to stay at a school. Abdou is going to be so good even though hes 135 pounds. All that crap.

Agreed that they need to produce. But you said they don't show "any" signs of continued success. I'd say back-to-back regular season championships and a higher level of recruiting show at least SOME signs of continued success. They still need to prove it on the floor, of course...but it isn't like they have fallen into the abyss.

despite tying for the MVC championship lets not pretend that was a huge accomplishment last season. I mean 20-14...thats a middling team that got lucky the rest of the conference also sucked. 20-14 in the mvc isnt even NIT level (unless you win the auto like last year because again, everyone sucked.

You uh, doing alright man? Every post is SO NEGATIVE about EVERYTHING. Sheesh.

Losing Kaifes sucks though, the kids got so much talent, and is way more athletic than he got credit for. He was already a fan favorite and played big in some big moments down the stretch. Kid had ice in his veins against Bradley in the tournament; that's not even a game without him going 5-6.

LU kind of has a log jam at guard so depth will we'll have a variety of options to look at between the JUCO's and freshman (Pipkins, Kennedy and Wojcik could all step in). Hopefully it allows one or two to step up and gain good experience. 20-21 is ultimately the year for LU in my book.

No everything is not fine. The state of the MVC is horrible. All the teams are jokes. This is a league closer to 32 than 1. The issue is the people in charge do nothing to at least try. They didn't make moves in the early 2000's and refuse to make moves now for stupid reasons that don't hinder leagues with less money.

What more can be done? The obvious answer is to add Murray State. I think the presidents probably should but they'd want to expand to 12 for a multitude of reasons, and there is no obvious #12 (given that Belmont isn't interested).

In retrospect, Loyola was the best add to replace Creighton. And they caught a lot of grief at the time for that. Valpo has underwhelmed so far but the sample size is small. Valpo and Murray were pretty comparable at the time and Valpo was coming off championships in what was then a better league and had better financials.

Right. I don't know exactly what people want the league office to do. Improvement of the league comes from the individual programs. They need to raise expectations. Schedule better. Compete better.
