Purdue Fort Wayne heading to the Horizon League

With Purdue Fort Wayne moving to the Horizon League, does this open the door for the MVC to be smart and grab Murray State? Could this be a preemptive move by the Horizon in case there is a school looking to jump to the MVC?

This wasn't a big enough of change for the MVC to make a reactive move.

I hope not. I hope the MVC is done with poaching off the Horizon League... I also don't think Murray State would jump ship to join the Horizon if that's what you are insinuating.

I don't think that's what he's insinuating at all. I think he's saying that the move for PFW by the Horizon is a response to them knowing one of their other members (presumably NKU or Wright State or possibly Milwaukee) is gone to the MVC alongside Murray State. I see no indication of that however. He could also be insinuating that if the Horizon League (a regional conference) is doing the 11\20 thing it finally gives the MVC adequate justification (not like they didn't already have it) to do the same and add Murray State to the conference. Now it's on the MVC to actually do it.

The Mastodons play in a venue with really cool history — Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Original home to the Pistons. Housed a couple NBA Finals. Hands out half dollar coins for change. Chuck-A-Don’s at halftime (throw an elephant on the court, closest to center wins). Recommend it for a bucket list.

Maybe this move will convince them to move there full time. I think the caliber of opponents that they will be playing with their histories coupled with the regional aspect of the conference justifies that. I foresee an increase in attendance at Mastadon games in the future.

Don't be shocked if the Horizon League isn't finished adding schools. I'd guess they'll be shooting for as many as 14 so they can run divisions and maintain travel partners. Might not all happen this year, but shortly would be my guess.

Evansville, Loyola, and Valpo would be good for them.

Add Bradley to that list. Since the private schools are so terrified of FCS football they could go play with other non-football schools. Most of the HL plays in big market locations too so they would be getting all that TV money (not). Then everyone is happy.
