Potentially promising ramifications in NWI. Hiring the right president triggered the turnaround of Drake’s program.

A few things:

1. It will take them up to two years to find a new president? That's... a long time.
2. had no idea that Valpo used to have a medical school and pharmacy school.
3. Seems like presiding over the closure of your institution's law school isn't the best legacy to leave, even if it was the right choice for the institution.

Not to mention a bunch of academic facilities spending (that admittedly was sorely needed) that anticipated a boom in enrollment that hasn't come yet. The buildings are beautiful but there are some concerns among alumni about the financial health of the university. We'll see. They are nearing the end of a long endowment drive campaign.

On the court however Valpo just went 4-0 on its foreign tour in Canada including a victory over the mighty Carleton Ravens--the institution that has lost 19 regular season games since 2000-2001 (never more than 3 in a season) and has won 14 of the last 17 national titles in Canada. Here's a partial list of the D1 programs they have beaten since 2017
Providence
Alabama
Ole Miss
Vanderbilt (X2)
Cincinnati
USF
Northeastern
South Dakota State (X2)

They also beat our 15-16 team that went 30-7 and went to the NIT Final and beat the likes of Oregon State Florida State Belmont St Mary's BYU Iona Missouri State and Rhode Island and nearly beating Oregon who was a 1 seed that year) by 18 points. Just some food for thought.

It should also be mentioned that Ryan Fazekas didn't play in a single game on this trip. This team might end up being okay. Who knows? Lots of time and lots of games between now and MVC play.

Looks like the MVC had a bunch of undefeated teams in foreign play this year. What we don't know is what the level of competition was. It appears that we are going to have a very interesting year in the MVC. Some fans are going to be elated, and some will be very disappointed.

That's fair and true. The Valley does seem wide open (again) this year. I hope Valpo and Evansville have a good year. We both could really use some success and it really is time that the Indiana MVC schools rose up and became more competitive. But really our fanbase needs a good year. I don't know how many more bad years the fanbase will put up with.

Some very encouraging talk from Valpo's AD recently RE: facilities. Hopefully we will make some of this talk a reality in the near future even amid the leadership transition. But this is the closest they've hinted to actual substantive progress in awhile so maybe there is hope that Valpo is going to get serious soon.

Those two teams should have a nice battle on Thursday night in STL.
