Not linking to it but before it gets brought up, I apologize for the residential crazy on our board insulting the posters of this site in a seven paragraph tirade. That board is down to 5 people strictly due to him. He has made it his own echo chamber and campaigns for the shunning of anyone who disagrees with him. He bullies ISUCC repeatedly. An insecure little man-child with a massive ego.

He is not representative of the fan base. My apologies.

All the forum's have a person (sub another word that starts with P) like that in their forum. So we all understand.

Thankfully, that person appears to no longer be on an SIU board......

Good-natured, witty trash talk is an essential part of online sports discussions. Part of the reason why /r/collegebasketball is so good.

I think it's partly a generational thing. Fans who came of age in an era where there's reddit and Twitter are used to interacting with fans of other schools. Fans who came of age during the era of team-specific message boards are a lot touchier.

The current generation of teens and young adults gets made fun of for being snowflakes, but they've built up a thick skin on digital platforms. It's the older generations who feel the need to respond to every perceived insult or dissenting opinion that they read on the internet.

Thanks for the suggestion, had to go check it out...wow...he takes triggered to a whole new level. Mentally, he appears not ready to participate on social media. Surprised your mods haven't taken him out.

UE-ISUB have had a rivalry for decades. It has cooled in recent years only because neither one has been contending, but it does have history. I like some good-natured trash talking between the two...in fact, my daughter even went there, so I will refrain from digging to deep, but it's all fun.

I will say that dude is completely off his meds if he is going to bash Evansville on restaurants. I travel regularly to a lot of Valley cities and we certainly hold our own on good, local joints. We didn't win "Fattest City in America" a few years back with crappy food.

If anyone is headed here, and wants some recommendations on chow, I will be happy to give them to you, and it won't start with Turoni's.

Do they still have a Gerst house in Evansville? I was always a fan of Gerst beer.

Evansville does have some good spots for food! The only fair point he makes is the smell is really not an issue and hasn't been for some time. Whether it is due to the factors he alluded to i don't know, but it is nothing like it use to be. The valley needs more bad blood, not less though! So let the insults freely fly both ways!
