Exactly. Most HS basketball players in Indiana dream of playing for IU under the banners. I grew up dreaming of playing for UE, but I that was when UE was a strong mid-major under Dick Walters and Jim Crews. The city jam packed Roberts Stadium with 12,500 loud BB fans to see the Aces, Scott Haffner, Marty Simmons, and the championship teams and players of the College Division were still remembered.

Of course, Butler has also become a dream spot for Indiana BB players after their great NCAA runs under Stevens.

I'm afraid kids growing up in Evansville and the surrounding communities today, and over the past 2 decades, only have the memories of Simmons' boring offense, his son starting 4 years over better players, mediocrity, no NCAAs, no MVC championships and a number of low finishes in the MVC.

Wish he would transfer to UE but it doesn't look as if it is going to happen. Back to hoping the staff can find some hidden gems that the other schools pass over.

Headed to Xavier.

About 3 hours closer to home than Iowa City. Good luck to the kid, he's been through way too much.

I realize the kid has been through something none of us would wish on our worst enemy; but how is being 3hrs away from your Family any better than being 5.5hrs?

I also realize kids can transfer for any reason this year and he wouldn’t be the first to abuse this privilege, but it’s an odd excuse when that doesn’t help you get home on a weeknight if you have a free day.

Good Luck to him I guess, but he should have just said he didn’t want to be there anymore.

I agree. No hard feelings Mr. Nunge and best of luck to him but the "closer to home" was BS. Playing in the Big East means many of his games will be in the Eastern part of the US instead of the Midwest.
