Have any MVC players announced sponsorships or anything? I figured the first thing would be coming out of Northern Iowa. "Hi, I'm AJ Green and and if you want some good eats, come on down to Peppers' Grill..."

or, "Hi, I'm Creighton Bluejay,______________ on behalf of Berskhire Hathaway"... "Hi, I'm WSU Shocker __________ for Koch Industries"

Just think how badly this could be abused if there are interests willing to do so.

The only one I'm aware of at UNI is that Bowen Born is running a skills camp in his hometown next month and charging $30 a head.

Absolutely asinine that even stuff like that was illegal before.

Another impact that I don't see named much is exploitation. What if your volleyball team decides to sell a swimsuit calendar and you're not comfortable with that but your teammates want you to do it? There could be pressure to do things that are against one's conscience.

Purely speculation on my part but I'm doubting that the bottom 98% of college athletes can generate much more than $4,000 in revenue pre expenses and tax. Maybe less? I welcome disagreement but explain your logic.

Very few will be offered any big money and might agents structure player "locks" with lump sums prior to their stepping on campus?

I still think this is mostly going to be about wealthy business owners paying everybody on the team to appear in an ad or on a commercial for a large sum of money. At big schools there will be numerous donors who will want to do that. Certain stars will be able to get individual deals, but mostly just salaries for the team. I do wonder if the schools will allow them to use the school logos to promote themselves. I assume they could not do that without the school's permission. As a practical matter these players NIL are worthless without the school's fan base.

This is exactly correct.

Honestly, I don't see a huge change. The schools with money and power are going to continue to be the schools with money and power with the same people that have always bankrolled their programs just doing it out in the open rather than under the table.

You'll have some have-nots that have lots of cash behind them that may try to make a play (Grand Canyon, Liberty, Rice, etc) but at the end of the day the elite kids are going to do what they've always done and go to your Kansases and Kentuckys and Dukes of the world.

That’s the one I’m going to laugh at the most.

And actually, as I think about it, there's a possibility that the IRS changes a paid athlete to employees and taxes them on all their benefits. So then they could pay taxes on the value of their scholarships/room/board.
