I understand what you're saying. But Louisville is a dumpster fire and could potentially be hindered by the NCAA with all the mess. The athletic department has no integrity and McMahon isn't chasing money like most coaches do. I think there's better opportunities.

Prohm had a chance to leave Murray for Mississippi State, nearly quadrupling his salary. But he knew better programs were out there and waited. Iowa State came calling and it paid off for him financially.

Fixed.

Louisville is a top-7 paying job nationally at $4+ million and a proven place where you can win a national title. No one’s turning down an opportunity to increase their salary 8-fold.

But wasn't Chris Mack something like 68-36 and that wasn't good enough? That's ridiculous. Their expectations are out of control. No thank you. The money isn't worth that pressure and headache.

Astounding Absolutely astounding. So glad they're coming aboard. I would have been so upset if we had passed on them again this time. They are such an obvious candidate and needed to be added years ago.

Should have been added in 2017....

I totally agree. We should have gone to 11 teams in 2017 and waited on Belmont to come to its senses but it's okay. Saner heads on all sides have prevailed and we now have Murray and Belmont both in the MVC. The only thing that dampens things here is that Loyola isn't sticking around because that would be quite a league. Still I think UIC will be a strong addition in a few years and we're going to be fine.

Point taken. They should have stuck it out with Pitino. Yeah, he's damaged goods but at least he can coach, and it's not like firing him stopped the violations.

And then we saw what kind of coach Prohm actually is.

Murray is more or less a plug and play job at this point Just keep hiring from the tree and even with the major step up in leagues, they should still be just fine.

That's what everyone thought about Butler too and we see how that's working out. Granted the MVC isn't the ig East but still. I think Murray State will be fine going forward too though no matter what happens. I think attendance will be fine for Murray State regardless of performance at least for a few years. If I understand the situation correctly that fanbase has been starved for this move for years decades even. Just the fact that they're finally there will be enough for at least a little while. There will definitely be a honeymoon period but they will need to win eventually and I believe they will. Don't underestimate the thought that playing in a new league against better competition might be interesting for the players with pro prospects so they might use their extra year to hopefully boost their stock especially if they don't have a guaranteed first round promise.

Rather, you should say, WAS a plug and play job. I can't blame you for not realizing just how bad the OVC is and was. You're talking about four or five bottom 250-350 RPI teams almost every season, so that's 8-10 nearly guaranteed wins if you're good and probable wins if you're just OK. If you consider that most teams play about 30-35 regular season games, beating just the terrible dregs of the conference gets you halfway or more to a winning record, win half the rest of your games and your record is about 23-7, 24-8, etc. At Murray in the OVC, pretty much anybody that lost ten games in a season was considered to be on the hot seat. McMahon was taking serious heat a year ago.

Prohm went .500 in his time at Iowa State, which isn’t great. But in that time, he won 2 Big 12 conference tournaments and made the sweet 16, went to the NCAA tourney in 3 of his six years in Ames. He also had 6 NBA draft picks including a lottery pick. That’s nearly half the draft picks that Iowa State has had since 2000 and the first lottery pick since 2000.

From what I understand Chris Mack is a total douche and left the program in shambles. Not so sure it was as much as he couldn't perform as much as it was the state of the program and the direction the leadership saw it heading which you can also argue started in the Pitino tenure with the Adidas scandal and extortion cases.

I personally wouldn't want any part of it.
