1) Drake didn’t lose a Q4 home game.
2) Drake didn’t walk out of non-conference with 0 Q1/Q2 wins. They walked out with at least 1 Q1 win and possibly a 2nd.
3) There won’t be a record-setting number of bid thieves this year (which is what knocked Indiana St out).

So many differences from last year to this year.

People don’t want to have a nuanced discussion I’ve learned. They just want to scream about the Net’s (very real!) issues and power imbalance with P4 programs

Drake really needed more Q1 opportunities from conference games. Hopefully this offseason will come with very little coach turnover and the top teams will have more support from the other top teams. Sadly, you really need about 4 teams in the top 75 of NET to really give yourselves a good shot. If not, it takes about 30 wins to get on the bubble.

It would be great if UNI or Bradley dropped to the 4 seed, which would mean Drake only had one Q3/4 game at Arch Madness. Doesn’t look like it will happen, but would be great for Drake.

There is no scenario where Bradley or Northern Iowa can fall to the 4 seed.

The Bulldogs' recent play won't earn them style points -- nor improve a BPI that ranks borderline top 80 in the nation -- but their tourney odds remain in the mid-70% range, according to the ESPN Analytics forecast, on the strength of a top-40 SOR and WAB. The MVC has received only one NCAA bid in six of the past seven tournaments, so the conference tourney still weighs on Drake's chances. But as things stand, ESPN's model gives the Bulldogs a greater than 50% chance to snag an at-large bid even if they don't win Arch Madness in St. Louis.

Great job drake... In a year with 5 bid stealers and a historically strong bubble you knock off Indiana State (drake was on the bubble last year too tbf). In a year with an historically weak bubble and seemingly minimal bid stealers, and those potential bid stealers like big West-ucsd and A10-vcu would have been left out before drake, the bulldogs could just faded against Belmont... Oh well, I think we are closer to getting two bids in a semi (it will never be every single year with the pro o5 selection criteria) consistent manner than some people may imagine.
