Pedon going into year 4 of a 5 year deal. It's a make it or break it year.

Congrats to ISU for pulling off the modern-day holy grail of retaining all-conference players.

A lot of upside with this group and reason to be excited about potentially breaking the long NCAA drought. They should have little trouble scoring. If I were the ISU coaching staff, with whatever remaining rides they have, I'd be looking to add a salty defender or two to the mix, as their offense seemed ahead of their defense for much of this past season.

I'm still in some state of shock that Pedon and our collective, The 1998 Club, was able to pull this off.

You bring up a very good point. We'll bring back most of the scoring but have massive holes to fill in what already was a shaky defense. Jordan Davis and Dalton Banks were our two best defenders with Malachi Poindexter probably being third. All three graduate.

That said, the only way the team adds anyone is if they decide to go up to 15 scholarships. Otherwise, our 13 are filled.

I agree, some post depth and length would be welcomed. Right now, the post is Chase Walker, Brandan Lieb Cameron Barnes, Walk-on Nick Feather, with freshman Nick Allen coming in. Numbers wise, that's okay. You've got the MVC Preseason POY in Walker but question marks with everyone else. Lieb is coming off an injury where he nearly lost a finger, Barnes needs to put on serious weight or develop a better 3pt shot if he wants to contribute and Allen won't be ready day 1 to offer significant relief of Walker.

I see a need for some post support as well as an athletic, versatile wing. It's hard to keep 13 guys happy. It'll be even harder to keep 15.

Well ISU was 10-10 last year and got hammered as the five seed in STL. Sure it’s good to have guys back but there might be some overvaluing of the roster going on here.

We've all also watched Pedon s*** his pants in close games.

I like both Bradley and UNI over Illinois State as we sit here today simply because the coaching in both those places is vastly superior.

Maybe, but they're bringing back a first team all conf, second team all conf, and all-freshman.
Sophomore. Sophomore. Freshman. and in the CBI Ty Pence, also a sophomore, really took a step forward.

Also adding in a 15ppg scorer in Boden Skunberg who medically RS this year.

2014 UNI was 10-8. 2015 UNI soared into the AP Top-10.
2020 Drake was 8-10. 2021 Drake lost Robbins yet was an at-large to the NCAA Tournament.

Some of the better Valley teams over the last decade were in the 8-10/10-8 range the previous year.

Those were in the years where your competition returned a lot. Now we’re in the era where your competition starts from scratch, so all-conference continuity gives you a big head start.

If you forced me to place a bet on next season, I’d put it on ISUr.

I know who is coming back. That’s kind of my point. All of those guys were so good but ISU still couldn’t get over .500 in the league. I know what overvaluing returning players looks like. Bradley just did it.

Might as well mail it in next year, no chance our young guys make improvements this offseason or learn how to turn the experience in a few close losses into close wins next year. They’ve all peaked at 19/20 years old damn shame

Have to factor in the plethora of injuries the birds had last year into their record. I imagine that won't be the case next year.

Let’s cancel the season folks. The Redbirds are back and everyone is playing for second place.
