He won the title with a center who is slow and can't jump or shoot, a power forward who is slow and poor ball handler, small forward who is undersized, 2 guard who shot poorly most of the year, a point that most teams dared to shoot, and a very short bench. The whole team was poor defensively, crowd support was not committed at first, and only Weems started at MSU as a Frosh. the rest transfered in. He threw a team together on the fly and overcame their shortcomings by instilling determination and emphasizing their strengths. Does it really matter who signed Weems?

No, he was a ***** ****** recruit. But it has been said many times that on the first practice Cuonzo held, he told Weems that he would not be strong enough to play for him and Weems about didn't make it through the practice. And now you see where he is. Regardless if he was a 'Zo recruit or not, he is a 'Zo player and where he is today because of 'Zo

Mo Valley;
I think the reason Bear's fans are a little more concerned about Zo departing than perhaps WSU is about Marshall rests in 2 areas. I think Bear's fans fully expect to lose Zo in the very near future, but want to see him solidfy the program by finishing off this recruiting class and the early 2012 signees in the fall. By all accounts we are close to some excellent talent saying yes to the Bears. After that, it'd be great if he stayed, but most feel we have a young coaching staff that would yield a favorable successor. Secondly, I think Marshall got exposed a bit this year; great talent, depth, everything in place to win the title. But he got outcoached a number of times and probably is seen by many Valley fans as being no better than the 4th best coach in the league presently. Who knows, he's done a decent job in 4 years at Wichita, but 4 years in has no Valley titles and no NCAA appearences. Maybe not the return on close to a million a year investment most Shocker fans expected.

We're up to 2. Seems like the only wild card is whether Gregg is back at WSU next year.
