Sycamores to play in ESPN Old Spice Classic 2011

ISU Sycamores announced yesterday they will participate in the ESPN Old Spice Classic over thanksgivingin weekend in Orlando, FL (ESPN Wide World Sports Venue)

Other teams in the field:

Minnesota
Wake Forest
Arizona State
Texas Tech
Dayton
DePaul
Fairfield

3 guaranteed games all televised on the ESPN family of networks!!

Can anyone say Thanksgiving @ Disney World!!! :dance:

ISU blue could win this thing. Go Trees.

I'm guessing Minnesota or Arizona State is the best team in that field, not named ISU blue.

I'm not sure what ASU's prospects are for next season, but they finished last in the Pac-10 this year.

That was my point

No world beaters...or anything close. Although admittedly, I thought ASU was better than that.

Edit: ASU was pretty young this year, but does lose three seniors who were among their top four scorers

You probably can't do any worse than CU in that event. We lost to Michigan in the first game in OT and proceeded to lose to Xavier and Iona to go 0-3 in the event. That was a disaster for Creighton.

I went to Orlando to watch Creighton play in this tourney last year. It is really well organized and makes for a good family trip. I was able to use the Disney World angle to convince my spouse to make a trip that she otherwise may have had little interest in making and the kids loved it.

Looks like InSU is leveraging their tourney title. The slate of teams is decent, but nobody that InSU couldn't beat.

The field looks down compared to other years, if ISU could win the whole thing it would still go a long way towards exposure. No idea how good they are going to be next year, but if they want to start talking about an at-large or showing they're an MVC contender, doing well in Orlando would definitely help a lot.
