Painter was in florida when lansing was there why would he go to purdue to talk about being a assistant at Missouri if Painter is not there. He was there to talk about being an assistant at Purdue if they can manage to keep painter.

Lansing makes $150K? Are you serious?

If anyone is still wondering why some fans of Valley teams are concerned about the direction the Valley is going, run this through your head a few times.

When Kent State can hire your coach for twice what you're paying him, that's a problem. (Geno Ford got his salary doubled by going to BU for $700K.) When a BCS school can hire your coach AS AN ASSISTANT for twice what you're paying him, you've got a problem. (The top assistant to Frank Martin at Kansas State makes $400K a year.)

And now perhaps you understand why McKenna would leave a head coaching job at ISU-blue for an assistant job at Nike U.

Seth Davis Via twitter
SethDavisHoops: Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post Dispatch has reported that Matt Painter called Missouri AD Mike Alden to accept his offer.

SethDavisHoops: On the other hand, this from the Indy Star. RT @JeffRabjohns: Purdue has not heard anything yet from Matt Painter, source said.

SethDavisHoops: Obviously we need a reputable news organization on this Painter thing. Where's Lisa G and the Howard 100 news team when you need them?

So there are some conflicting reports out right now.

Yup looks like he will not be coaching anywhere but West Lafayette next year.

Does Marshall get a look from Mizzou now? Maybe Mizzou tries to get Shaka Smart. I am not sure where things go for Mizzou from here, but I think it is still a good job for someone.

Thank you, Aargh!!! Furthermore, if your HC is only making $150,000 what are you spending on recruiting, equipment, travel, training? The "Valley of Death" is nothing but a catchy phrase when you see numbers like this floated about.

I know the money in college athletics is out of whack, but if your HC is making squat, you know the rest of the program is underfunded. And yes, I always wondered why McKenna, a very, very good coach, left a HC position to be an asst. That question has now been answered.
