Name when the last time a team chose the NIT over the NCAA and I will tell you when this question was last worth asking. My guess would be late 60's early 70's.

That's kind of like saying more people will remember Eastern Washington won the FCS National Title than who will remember Florida International won the Little Ceasers Bowl.

Agreed. I think sullentrop hit it on the head - winning the nit really just rewards the wsu fans after the turd they left in Stl. It will leave them excited for next year (thus keep the fan support engaged).

Will isu-b support grow due to their one and done? Or will it continue to be mediocre? I guess we shall see next year.

Wasn't all of this nonsense started by Clodbrain on the old board when he was trying to bash Creighton prior Turgeon's S16 run? NCAA berth is always the goal and always better for any program. Ws in other tournaments are good for fans and player development.

the NCAA berth for ISUb was huge for their fans. Lansing and Co. have to follow up next season with a top 2 Valley finish and postseason to keep building positive momentum. Odum is a great player but they are going to need more help inside. I think they only lose Aaron Carter?

NIT Championship was great for WSU fans and probably helped take the sting out of a disappointing season. Kudos to Marshall and the team for pulling together and really getting after it. Its too bad they couldn't have put it together a bit earlier and made noise in the NCAAs. 3 home losses in conference was pretty rough for a team with their potential. NIT banner helps the positve vibes return. Shockers lose quite a bit from this team, but still have some nice pieces to work with next year. Big question is will they still have their coach.

Back to the topic title questions - Lets see, how many people are still talking about Indiana State's one and done as opposed the Shockers NIT Championship?

Outside of Wichita and on Valley fan sites, Wichita is getting about as much play as is Indiana State. Little if any.

Then again, on Phog.net, there was some hay made about the phantom Chickenhawk comment. So if that counts as NIT run in the media, so be it.
