Lowrey -- Possible Assistant at Purdue????

Postby Shox21 » April 20th, 2011, 7:47 am

Rumors on ESPN Insiders:

"UPDATE: Purdue coach Matt Painter filled one of the two openings on his staff on Tuesday, hiring Butler assistant Micah Shrewsberry.

Painter described Shrewsberry as "hard-working, energetic and passionate" in a statement released by Purdue. Shrewsberry, 34, worked primarily as a recruiter while with the Bulldogs and figures to be a tremendous asset to Painter in the same capacity."

Apparently Painter had two vacancies on his staff.

"The resignation of Purdue assistant coach Mike Jackson leaves Boilermakers coach Matt Painter with two vacancies on his staff. Painter already lost associate head coach Paul Lusk, who took the head coaching job at Missouri State, this offseason."
...
Some ... possible candidates, according to HammerAndNails.com and BoiledSports.com, include: Butler associate head coach Micah Shrewsberry, former Bowling Green head coach and Indiana assistant Dan Dakich, Southern Illinois head coach Chris Lowery and former Purdue players Linc Darner (currently the head coach at Division II Florida Southern) and Kenneth Lowe."

Interesting, although I'd be surprised if it happened.

Random speculation. No chance of it actually happening.

Contrary to the wishes of a few spoiled SIU "fans" it will not happen.

If it was any other Valley coach under consideration as an assistant, we'd consider it a kick in the Valley's crotch. See: McKenna. But I don't think anyone would miss C-Lo.

Interesting. I have been following this Purdue search rather closely. I think that whomever they hire will be in contention with Shrewsbury for the Missouri State job in 2014 or so. Would be crazy if C-Lo goes to Purdue and then resurfaces in Springfield a few years later.

You have an opening in 2014? Did Lusk succeed or get canned?

Probably he will succeed. But we hired a Purdue assistant in 2008, a Purdue assistant this year, thus we will be due for a new one in 2014 by my projections.
