Sycamore fans don't come by as often anymore as most news that involves Odum will surely make headlines on ESPN.

So true. I was informed by a host of angels last night that Odum had just set a new personal record of 8 on the Wii Sports Resort 3-point shooting game.

It seems that the people complaining about the board are probably the same people who most of us would prefer not participate in the first place. Plus I think what will keep this board from becoming VT is having mods who are willing to piss off a couple of people by deleting their posts to the benefit of the larger group. Keep up the good work mods!

Actually, a well run board is a little of both. You want to avoid every thread being highjacked, at the same time, a little give and take adds spice. A board that does not deviate into some ribbing and joking will die, just as a board that is so focused on basketball and not offending anyone will also die. Each extreme is equally bad.

A good message board is like grilling a fine steak. Without a little spice, it will be bland, too much and you ruin it. ValleyTalk was a fine steak that got smothered in steak sauce.

Moderating is a very difficult task. And however you chose to moderate, you are upsetting someone. Think of it as a steak, some like them rare, some well done. To me, the best steak is medium rare. But there will never be a concensus.

Dorito's, Bud Light and Slim Jim's. Throw in some jake Odum, predictions for next year, a post or two about Illinois State's scheduling and you have something. Even with a perfect board like that, somebody would complain that the Slim Jim's should have been substituted for teriyaki beef jerkey.

Everyone needs more Korean food...This board and the world would be a better place if were were all full-bellied with Galbi, Bulgogi and Japchae.

I approve of this topic being baptized in steak sauce.

Oops, they mis-spelled his name on the label.
