Consolation Game

This is kind of a spin of of the all-conference discussion. Should the Valley have a consolation game prior to the MVC Championship?

I think most tournaments have done away with consolation games, other than high school tourneys. I think it's just too difficult for teams to get real motivated after being knocked out.

Personally, I'd rather watch something like a slam dunk contest prior to the championship game.

So Durley, Lawson and Mac would have one more chance to do something worthwhile to make the All Tournament team and make heart happy and knock Weems off the list?

No. There's no point in playing for third and the game wouldn't help the chances of anyone playing in it making the NCAA.

Consolation game AKA game for possible NCAA teams to lose players in that is ABSOLUTELY useless.

While I'd love it, a slam dunk contest will probably never happen for fear of injury.

Maybe we could have a three point contest? The only problem is that teams usually leave after getting beat, so I don't know if any of the players would still be around.

Ya, 3-pt. contest would be sweet. However, if my team isn't in the finals then it is nice to get an early start for home.

I like the idea of slam-dunk and 3-point contests, but they are a bit overdone. How about a "trick shot" contest, or game of horse between the members of the all-valley team not participating in the championship game? It would be unique and give the fans of the teams not participating something to stick around for.

Trick shots have become kind of a youtube sensation. They could have the players do it and maybe an online contest for fans to submit entries, with the finalists decided by applause vote on the bigscreen in Scottrade.
