WSU hires Dana Ford as Asst. Coach

WSU had two coaching vacancies after last year.

One of them went to former IlSU player, Dana Ford.

After graduating from IlSU, Ford went to Winthrop as a GA. Ford followed Marshall to Wichita to finish his two-year stint as a GA, then went to Tennessee State. Tennessee State is coached by former Shocker, John Cooper.

Ford replaces Marty Gross, who took a job as Associate Head Coach at a low major in Texas, his home state.

The other vacancy was created when Chadd Dollar went to Ga Tech to be their Associate Head Coach.

The other assistant coach vacancy has also been filled by Greg Heiar, an assistant coach at Southern Mississippi, and formerly head coach at Chipola Community College.

And now there is rumor that Doc Calloway and Jumping John Smith from Chipola JC basketball staff will take administrative jobs at WSU. This strengthens the belief that it's just a matter of time before Chipola's Keith DeWitt gets his release from Southern Mississippi and becomes a Shocker.
