Doug had a better option in CU and his father. Next time you sign a kid who's father is a coach, make sure and express your concern to Jacobson. He could have held the contract up and Doug would have missed a year. Instead he realized that would have been more harmful to him and UNI then anyone.

Can we have a "white flag" smiley? I give up, it's hopeless. I don't know how anyone can explain this to him without Grillz completing missing the point and hanging on to a meaningless detail.

Since I cannot vote for Jacobson I would have to say Simmons or Marshall. I don't like Marshall but the results he gets are undeniable. Even though he hasn't got to the Dance yet I think we all know that should be taken with a grain of salt since the past two years he has led teams that certainly could've made some noise in the tourney if given the chance.

I say Simmons for the same reason everyone else has...he has done some good things with very little. Colt Ryan is one of this league's BEST players and if Simmons can just get him some more help, E'Ville could be dangerous.

I want to see a little more from Lansing, but I really want to like him. He's a good guy from Des Moines, like myself and I think he will do some great things at Indy St...but I want to see a bit more to go off of than one year.

You say refuse to see the facts, but it is your fellow fans that deny the truth. Can you honestly tell me that Doug was going to UNI cause of Ben or was it because his dad knew he was about out at ISU and didn't want him there. No I don't expect Ben to hold him there but you all seem to think you were screwed over by accident. ISUr had a kid transfer out a couple weeks ago they went out and did the work to get someone in. Jacobson could have done the same.

To me, I think these are reasons why one shouldn't vote for Marshall, rather than reasons why one should. In a lot of ways, his teams have underachieved the last two years - no conference titles and no tourney championships despite being arguably the most talented squad. He seems to be a helluva recruiter, but hasn't quite turned that prowess into any sort of titles at WSU.

Since I have allegiances to two Valley schools, I will have to recuse myself for both Lusk and McDermott.

1. Greg Lansing
2. Ben Jacobson
3. Gregg Marshall
4. Geno Ford
5. Marty Simmons
6. Chris Lowery
7. Tim Jankovich
8. Mark Phelps

Also he just recruited what is being considered the best recruiting class (on paper) in UNI's history by hitting places like Texas, St Louis, Minneapolis, etc...

You can't have it both ways --- if your are going to give Jacobsen the credit for recruiting kids that he had contact with while an assistant, you can't also give him credit for the kids recruited by other assistants while he is head coach.

How about we give credit to the kids he coached for 3-4-5 years? That way Missouri State fans don't have to give credit to Barry Hinson for Kyle Weems, or Creekmore, etc. ;)

A point no ones brought up is how a highly hyped recruiting class(Egleseder, Koch, Ahelegbe) doesnt mean ANYTHING unless they develop into the players the coaches think they could be. Jake did ALL the developing of these players not Mcd. But if you want to bring up recruiting classes before they even step foot on the floor than Jake has done that too because this years recruiting class is more touted than the 06 class.

Jacobson is a stud. I have a hard time believing anyone on this board wouldn't take him for their own team if their current coach left and a lot of people would take Jake to replace their coach straight up.

Why not? If he helped bring them to UNI whether it be as the assistant coach or head coach I think he still gets credit for them. I'm not saying he is the only reason those kids are there but I have a hard time believing that a kid would come to a school where he didnt buy into the head coach he'd be under. McD still gets credit for recruiting guys like Koch and Kwadzo even though Jacobson helped bring them to CF.

It's too early to tell on Lansing. The argument against Lowery could be the same as that against Lansing if he doesn't keep Indiana State at the top of the league.

If I had to start a program, I'd go:
1) Ben Jacobson
2) Greg McDermott (maybe #1 if I was going to get his kid too)
3) Gregg Marshall
