Doesn't look great combined with this....

A native of Houston, Oguchi announced in the spring his intention to transfer and got his release from Oregon. The coach of his Houston Select AAU team, David Salinas, is good friends with first-year ISU coach Tim Jankovich, who has coached and heavily recruited in Texas.

Thanks to that connection, Oguchi visited ISU in the spring. Oguchi wasn't concerned about joining a new coach after watching the up-tempo style used by Kansas, where Jankovich was Bill Self's right-hand man the last four years.

Just noticed on the other thread that Jank was mentioned...interesting to see what happens

Well see what happens, but I believe Jank has coached and recruited in Texas before he came to ISU, so the connection isn't as surprising as say someone who is giving the guy money from a mid major school across the country.

Are you talking about Lutz? He happened to spend he entire career in TX prior to coming to CU. So maybe not that strange to see a connection of some kind.

Look, this doesn't look great for anyone involved, but I don't get the attempt to "justify" Janks association and denigrate others.

I have also heard that a UE asst might have connections, but haven't seen it yet.

Actually Lutz wasn't coming to my mind here. All I am saying is that in Janks or even Lutz case that these guys were already established in Texas. That was their recruiting base for a long time. So it really isn't surprising that they have had run ins with Salinas and may have even become friends. I am not saying it makes them innocent, but it doesn't make them guiltier than any other coach or assistant.

Honestly, unless they find some hard evidence such as e-mails or letters, I don't think anything will happen as most people coming out saying it was a pay to steer type deal is all hearsay.
