I'm not dissing Creighton here, but I'm a little confused by the love theyre getting nationally and being an overwhelming favorite this year. This is virtually the exact same team that finished tied for 4th in a bad conference last year, right?

You mean like the hype that WSU and MSU were recieving last year preseason after WSU being a one and done in the NIT and MSU winning the CIT championship the year prior in a bad conference (as well as what many called a bad NCAA year)?

Creighton makes perfect sense to me. Someone has to win the valley and the media has to make a choice who they are going to write about. When you look at Creightons roster with McDermott, Young and Ech, it looks like one that could rival the BCS'rs. Besides, even Dana O'Neil points out that come March, the McDermott and Son stuff would make for some nice feature articles around that time.

The hype is good for Valley exposure, but the top 25 talk seems a bit much right now.

+1

Any talk of Top25 for either CU or WSU is way premature. Both teams have potential, for sure, but neither have accomplished anything close to what would be needed to warrant that kind of respect.

That being said, I still contend that CU is the BY FAR favorite to win the league. They provide the most difficult matchups for the rest of the league and will be tough to beat each and every night. They have the best returning players and they probably have the best incoming players, and they weren't exactly bad to begin with. No need to question their spot at the top (I must have contracted malaria.)
