Take THAT UW-Parkside. You don't just bring your D2, GLVC squad into Renaissance Coliseum on Bradley's campus and expect to win....unless you are Quincy...and it was last year. But I digress. Bradley beat the D2 Rangers 87-77 tonight.
Geno Ford said his team would play fast and they did. 87 points is a lot. The good: Taylor Brown had 25 points and 8 rebounds in his first game back. Much maligned freshman guard Donivine Stewart played great--12 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 0 turnovers and didn't miss a shot. Junior Jake Eastman had 13 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore Walt Lemon, Jr. scored 13, made a couple threes, had three steals but turned it over five times.
Freshman Shayok Shayok, who has been highly touted--struggled. 4 pts, 3 reb in 15 minutes. Dyricus Simms Edwards didn't play great and left early with a cramp but he will be fine. Bradley has absolutely zero depth--especially in the post. After Jordan Prosser the three-headed monster of junior Milos Knezevic, and freshmen Devon Hodges and Nate Wells combined for zero points, a turnover and five fouls in seven minutes of play---UGLY.
Bradley won't win very many games. Hopefully the team will play hard and improve as the year goes on.
