In general I think buy games are a bad idea. There might be limited circumstances that it could make sense but I would rather get shots at the big boys in neutral site MTE rather than go bow down and go to their place for less money that we make at home games.

Ideally I want Creighton to find solid programs to do home and homes, get into good MTE events. If special opportunities arise to do other neutral site games with big boys...I"m interested. Gonzaga always seems to play someone big in Seattle on National TV. If we could do something like that in KC...I would be for it. Also, if something like the LSU-WSU 1-1-1 situation is available that might be worth a look.

If for some reason we do look at a straight buy game, I want it to be against a top 10 type program, national TV, and I want a lot of cash. (Duke, UCONN, Syracuse, Kansas, UNC, Kentucky, Michigan St level programs) I don't seen any of them offering CU that sort of deal very often.

I have suggested to our AD to use a neutral facility in Hoffman Estates, IL (outside Chicago). It is where the Chicago Invitational is played (MTE). I would be open to us taking an away/neutral game with a BCS opponent since they won't agree to a home/home or even 2-1 in many cases. At least something like this would give the BCS teams some incentive to play in front of potential recruits.

We tried to do a one and done at DePaul this year at their place and even offered to buy up a bunch of tickets to entice them into playing us and they still said no.

I am all for trying to do this type of stuff since our fans have shown to travel pretty well to the Chicagoland area. The last time we were there to play UIC we had a very good presence.

And that's something I think ISU and BU could maybe pull off. There are a lot of teams that I'd think would like to play in the Chicago area considering the talent it holds.
