I agree. In fact, I'll go one step further and say that Iowa St was where this whole thing was headed from the start (and wouldn't be surprised if ISU may have tampered a bit). The whole complaining/outrage about the blocking was all a smoke screen to get a release for good ole transfer U.

Maybe we get lucky, but I'm not very optimistic.

Is Creighton playing at UNC this year? Trying to follow the tweets gets difficult.

CU isn't going to return our bracketbuster game at Loyola until 2014-15 now. We're advertising for a home home game against a top 75 team or a neutral site game on Nov 9-10.

Jays pushed Alcorn St back to next year to free up a spot at the beginning of the season. Sounds like we've got feelers out there but no takers so far. Gonna be hard to get someone of value to come to Omaha to start the season against a Top 25ish team. Let's hope something works out.

It sounds like CU will replace the game with a DII school if they can't find a suitable opponent. Since a DII game is not figured into RPI, CU is better off doing that than playing Alcorn St. with its 300+ RPI. At least McDermott and the AD are trying to make moves now to improve CU's chances of garnering a higher seed next year. Hopefully, we do get a quality opponent to fill that slot, but if not a DII school won't hurt the RPI and frankly couldn't be a worse game than Alcorn State would have been.

It's not a bad idea. Teams expected to finish at the top should not be scheduling games against SWAC schools anyways unless they come as part of a tourney that lands a BcS opponent. This year CU should be doing everything in its power to play top competition-even going on the road if necessary. Take the Gonzaga model of anyone, anywhere. Can't count on just getting 25 wins to get a top-5 seed.

My guess is Mac has got his old school Wayne State sitting in the wings if necessary. But holding open a date can land some good games later in the process as schools are trying to fill.

Lengthy article in the local paper on Creighton's effort to build off of last year. The second link is an op-ed by an idiot writer who says CU should whore out and play one and dones. CU had the 6th best attendance in the county and he wants us to play guarantee games?

Go on the road. Beat Syracuse - or any other "name" east coast team. See what that does to your national recognition, ranking, SoS, and NCAA seed. Or play Ohio Dominican in front of 15K fans in Omaha and see what that does for you.

One thing home games does is make a hell of a lot more money for a small school who's athletics are funded through the basketball program.

Bottom line is winning in March and CU hasn't done enough of that. Pull a S16 or E8 the next couple years and this is no longer an issue.

Yep. It sucks that March is all that matters and that the MVC doesn't get as many chances as probably deserved.
