That wikipedia link is blatantly inaccurate, not to mention it's stupid to use 3-year-old numbers from the final years of the Chris Lowery era, an attendance lowpoint for the program as thousands of fans intentionally boycotted to send the administration a message. Regardless, SIU's attendance figures have not been anywhere near the range the wikipedia link shows, and SIU averaged more than 5,000 fans this year for a last-place team.

SIU also has the most rural/least populous region to draw from in the Valley, and an extremely spread-out alumni base (almost half of SIU grads live 5-6 hours away in the Chicago area).
We've digressed ... we were talking conference tournament. SIU finished 10th place in the Valley and had about 5 times as many fans there as MSU, and when the Salukis are actually good, they bring similar numbers to what Creighton has brought in recent years. Bears fans don't show in St. Louis worth crap, and anyone who has been there consistently will say as much.

I stated those were old numbers in my post. Just hadn't seen any recent numbers. Congtats on the increase this year. Neither of our schools numbers were very good though.

Missouri State fans should be embarrassed by their turnout in STL, year after year. It's pathetic.

You are flat wrong. When we have had good ballclubs we have had good attendance. Just two years ago we had really good numbers when we won the regular season. Hard to get excited when you start off as poorly as we did this season.

Been there every year, and strongly disagree. Obviously there were more MSU fans there when they finished first than this year, but compare a good year to MSU to good years for programs such as SIU, Creighton and Wichita (and factor in the distance compared to CU and WSU). Really weak.

Well I guess you missed this year. I doubt there were 500 SIU fans in attendance.
