Are the Shockers saving the future of SIU basketball?

I don't think I'm lazy for not paying $15 more a month to watch ice hockey and fishing NBC Sports Network. Just saying.

ESPN = Basic Cable. NBC Sports = extra for less content.

ESPNU (where the Valley is) = not basic cable

Still easier to get than NBC Sports. I have ESPNU on my extended cable. NBC Sports is part of the sports package.

ESPN3 (where the Valley actually is) is easier to get as well.

ESPN3 is awesome. Free for me , and if you get a simple cable wire you can connect your computer to your TV and watch it on there.

ESPNU is a premium channel here in E'ville, and no I don't subscribe to it either. But not many of ESPNU's broadcasts are "exclusive," with most of them on ESPN3.

With SIU financially hurting and facing the possibility of a $5 million judgement for the mishandling of the Lowery situation, I was seriously wondering if the continuation of the basketball program was viable.

I knew we'd be facing a large number of guarantee games and other revenue producing options in the coming years to try and stay afloat, but figured it would still be difficult.

The infusion of cash to the Valley's coffers (and all the member schools) may just be the saving grace this program needs.

Thanks so much to the Shocker nation.....you've given us some time to clear the program of the worst AD in the country and bring our program back to the standards expected in Carbondale.

Lets just hope the university's administration takes advantage of this situation and shows Mario Moccia the exit door as quickly as possible.
