Good read but I'm not sure Wes Washpun will be the newcomer of the year. If he performs that well then that's awesome but I'd bet one of our freshman, Friedman or Morgan are more likely to win, if anyone for the Panthers. Wes just doesn't strike me as the prolific scorer that I think whoever votes on that award is looking for. But I've heard that since we are lacking the outside shooters that we've had the past few seasons (or should I say players who thought they were "outside" shooters) Jacobson is looking for this team to really use their athleticism and work the ball into the basket.

I admit that I'm not sure who else has a first-year player looking to get extended time (Washpun is likely to start, BCpanther could say for sure) but given that UNI players don't post eye-popping stats I'm always skeptical of these voters to look past the top-layer stats.

Man, I cannot wait for this season.

Washpun is going to be on the floor a lot, which should lead itself to decent stats.

Ted Friedman has been a beast in practice and I expect him to challenge for Freshman of the Year. Tuttle really, really has to work to score against him and struggles with his strength defending him. Going to make both of them better.

I really think UNI will be a lot better than people expect. I was skeptical, but after seeing them a few times this fall, I think we may win more league games this year. Talent is talent and I think the 3 coming in to play (Friedman, Morgan, Washpun) are better than the 4 that graduated. If the league isn't careful for the next few years, WSU and UNI are really going to separate themselves from the rest of the league...

Another recent Valley article by Eisenberg.

Regarding the photo, you'll probably be happy to know that the move to the Big East means the end of the blue-striped overalls. Unfortunately it does not mean the end of the Blue Crew altogether. Many CU fans were hoping that BC would be phased out in the rebranding process.
"When you lose a program like Creighton, there's no sugarcoating it," Elgin said. "It's a devastating loss. They're going to go on and have success in the league they've joined..." Jeff Eisenberg, Yahoo Sports, October 10, 2013.

What's wrong with students who want to cheer for their school? Heaven forbid people act excited at a sporting event.

The overalls make it difficult to swallow their Chardonnay. Not to mention those overalls were not red and white.
