You think a lot of teams are going to be good, don't you?
Good is relative this year. Ive made my predictions:
WSU - Return a core of players from last year's final four including Early and Baker. Fred VanVleet is poised to take over as an elite PG. Cotton and Wessel are hard nosed role players. Additions of Coleby and Carter means WSU has the best front court and back court in the Valley.
Indiana State - Odum is the best PG in the Valley. Arop and Gant are difference makers. They have the depth and experience to compete for a title.
UNI - Great coach can do a lot with Mitchell and Tuttle. Nice group of newcomers means they'll have more talent than most other Valley schools. Lack of depth in the front court will limit their ceiling.
Evansville - Mock is the best young center in the league. Decent talent and a lot of it. No superstars and a lack of experience leave the Aces vulnerable to drop to the back of the pack.
MSU - Marshall is a great young player and the back court is bolstered by newcomers Ruder and Ron and the return of Gulley. Tyler and Addo add depth to the front court that was sorely lacking. Last years disaster of a non-con combined with weak defense and shooting leave too many questions.
Bradley - Lemon is a stud and Pickett is a good forward in a year lacking post depth. No bench depth and lack of outside shooting will continue to be an issue in Peoria.
Illinois State - Too many questions to skip Thursday night. Too much talent to put in last place.
Loyola - Not enough talent to compete night in and night out in the Valley.
Drake - Too many new pieces to be a factor in 2013-14 and probably 14-15 as well.
SIU - NO FRONTCOURT. Will live and die with Jackson and Beane. Talent is sparse.
