The Bird has landed

Postby FearDaTrees » November 6th, 2013, 8:54 am

A way over due statue is now outside the Hulman Center. The statue of Bird is 15 feet tall and weighs 1,900 lbs. There will be a lot of activities going on this weekend for the game and the statue dedication. Larry Bird will obviously be on hand for the festivities as well as Quinn Buckner and Bill Walton. I have heard rumors that Magic Johnson will also be on hand but who knows.

BTW: The game is at 1:00 against Ball St.

Awesome. Bird is my favorite of all the basketball greats. ISUb should be very proud of his legacy. This past summer I read "When the game was ours" about Bird and Magics last college season. It offers some interesting insights into both them an their respective teams.

It's about dang time.

Doug Collins and Will Robinson have been in front of Red Bird Arena for a while.

Larry Bird Statue Dedication Weekend

Postby SycamorePsycho » November 10th, 2013, 10:45 am

Nice article about the statue dedication weekend for the Sycamores. It's been a long time coming but glad to see ISU finally pay tribute to our most notable alumni. Bill Walton, Quinn Buckner, Jackie Macmullan, Donnie Walsh, and the 1979 team were all on hand to celebrate the weekend with Larry.
