Not sure if anyone cares about the actual game anymore at this point, but I thought I'd put submit my opinion. Drexel the year before last was considered the biggest snub of the NCAA tourney. Last year they were considered a sure-fire CAA championship team. Then lost their star player late in their second game of the season vs ISU, making the OT win for the redbirds look a lot less impressive than it was. They return most if not all of their key players this season and as others mentioned, gave a top 25 team a 5 point game on the road.
The birds kept it very close all game and showed some very good potential I thought. The most impressive to me was how they did not give up, even when down 12 points with just over a minute to go. They were able to bring it within six with a very effective full court press and some clutch shooting. So, there's one positive, another was center Middlebrooks who grabbed 15 boards and posted a double double in his second game. He looked like a man among boys on the glass.
All in all, not satisfied with the loss, but not hitting the panic button yet. Should be a good challenge tomorrow @ Northwestern.
Go Birds!
