Think, you're kinda proving my point.
UF has one of the best winning percentages in DI College Basketball over the last 10 years.
However, they seem to feel that The O'Connell Center, is all they need to satisfy their fan base.
Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Arkansas, some years 'Bama & now MIZZOU and even South Carolina are drawing larger crowds than The Gators, to home games.
If your from Orlando and lived in Tallahassee, you know what the tuition is to attend UF.
They have the endowment and money to build a 20,000 seat arena for Billy Ball in Gainesville. They don't and won't because in a few weeks, no one will care about anything Blue and Orange, unless it's in shoulder pads.

Well, that and they can't fill the arena they have now. Why would they build a 20,000 seat arena when they can't consistently sell out a 11.5k one?

I'm probably more positive towards Florida's basketball fan base because it's just so much better than Florida State's. We play in a run-down civic center and averaged 7500 a game last season. While playing in a much better basketball conference. Despite that, if I remember right, FSU is the third-most successful ACC team (after Duke and UNC) since 2003. No one cares.

I do understand that Florida has a significant advantage over us in basketball due to the quantity of games and Gainesville's better position to the Orlando metro area, while Tallahassee is a pretty good distance from anywhere. I know I wouldn't be supporting their basketball team regularly if I was living in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, etc.

And despite anything else, for a long time (and possibly still? I'm not sure if Jimbo Fisher passed him with his new contract) Donovan was the highest paid coach in the state.
