He simply does not have good footwork and he is the one that gambles on big time blocks. I don't think it's a product of the system. Our guards normally do a good job of keeping their man in front of them. If you watch Reggie, he sometimes gets drawn almost out to the three point line just trying to chase down a block. Knowing the guy somewhat personally (friends of friends), he is a bit cocky and strikes me as the kind of guy who is very concerned with his stats and flashy plays. That's not to say he's a bad teammate, but I don't think he realizes that he hurts his team chasing down those big time blocks.
Fair enough. I'm sure there is validity to the fact that he should also try to gamble less. That being said, I do not know for sure what he is being taught in that regard. Sometimes that sort of aggressive presence can have its advantages. From the games I've watched, I think he'd really probably be better served trying to eliminate the fouls he gets going for offensive rebounds he has no chance of getting than by adjusting his block attempts.
That's a good point about the offensive rebound attempts. He' still young, I'm confident he will figure it out with proper coaching. The presence of which I am still unsure about.
