I disagree with many experts' and fans' (including this ISU message board) assertion that the Big 12 is the best conference in the country. We heard the same thing last year. How they just beat up on each other and come tourney time, the Big 12 will show how dominant it is. Well, let's look at last year's tourney:
#2 seed Kansas (beat #15 seed Eastern Kentucky, lost to #10 seed Stanford)
#3 seed Iowa St (beat #14 seed NC Central, beat #6 seed UNC, lost to #7 seed UConn)
#5 seed Oklahoma (lost to #12 seed North Dakota St.)
#6 seed Baylor (beat #11 seed Nebraska, beat #3 seed Creighton (lol), lost to #2 seed Wisconsin)
#7 seed Texas (beat #10 seed ASU, lost to #2 seed Michigan)
#9 seed Kansas St (lost to #8 seed Kentucky)
#9 seed OK St. (lost to #9 seed Gonzaga)
So the mighty Big 12 got 7 teams in the tourney (most of any conference). And of those 7 teams, 3 went down in the opening round and only 2 made it to the second weekend (and 0 to the Elite 8). And if you go back to the 2013 Madness, you'll find similar results (5 bids, 3 opening round losses, 1 team in the Sweet 16 and nothing further).
Big 12 is overhyped again this year.
