Smokescreen. Irrelevant. Yeah, I could see how it could be seen as embarrassing. But it's really not.

His name was thrown out there, and it may not have been his desires. The Parker Executive Search firm likes to get its own candidates names out in the open and associated with openings. However, more often than not, this is a ploy to create better opportunities for guys in its stable (for a guy like Jeter, think Marquette/Xavier) and to lead the public away from what's really happening. In order to save face, he might also have felt the need to publicly do something if he wasn't even extended the offer (which I tend to think is really the story here).

Something similar happened with Crean when he was at Marquette...he was never offered the Illinois job, but he publicly rebuffed it. Then he went to Indiana.

Wouldn't read too much into the situation, yet.

I just hope you guys land somebody that does good things. Valley could use a healthy Bradley right now. Same with SIU, that situation seems pretty crappy through next year though.

This makes sense, and hopefully it is the case. I know when Turgeon was at WSU he "withdrew his name from consideration" for the KU job. I know Sutton at Oral Roberts also did the same thing to us.

It wasn't all that long ago that Sutton turned down the WSU job. I'm pretty sure an ORU coach turning down a school like WSU would not be considered good for the Valley...but there's always things behind the scenes that you don't know about and will never know about.

The Bradley admin doesn't look very sharp, appears they did not have plan A & plan B in place before firing JL. Or they had a plan A that got derailed...

Bradley has the potential to be a very successful midmajor and IMO, for the overall longterm success of the Valley, a successful Bradley helps our cause. Hope the right hire falls in your lap BU!
