Believe me.....Most CU fans are not the least bit jealous of InSU. What the heck would we be jealous of?????

1) Wichita State: improved guard play in the NIT, Stutz showed flashes in NIT, Carl Hall will need to step in for Durley/Blair

2) Creighton: look for Manigat to have a breakout year, possible at-large team with McD, Ech, and Young

3) Indy State: Odum and Richard both All-MVC cantidates, need Lathan to return to Jr. form w/ loss of Carter

4) Drake: all the talent is going to break out, Rice, SVD, and Simons could all average in double figures, Wedel will be missed

5) Evansville: return top 4 scorers, Ryan is a POY cantidate, need to find post defense with loss of Hopf and PVT

6) Illinois State: a little shooting will go a long way, Jackie on good progression plane, 4-5 new guards on the team

7) Northern Iowa: Jacobsen a great coach; not miracle worker, James and Moran good 1-2 perimeter punch, post play?

8) Missouri State: new system, Weems averaged 16.0 ppg; the rest of the returners (6) averaged 13.2 ppg

9) Bradley: new system, IF Brown returns they could go higher, DSE @ point will decrease production, too
many ???

10) Southern Illinois: losing Fay, Teague, and Bocot, Seck is an All-MVC talent, good recruiting class (C-Lo keeps rolling)

I wonder how many Drake fans agree with this. They certainly didn't look very good at the end of the season.

Depends on how you define "end of the season". Drake actually looked pretty good in 7 of the final 9 games. Unfortunately, the 2 they didn't look good in, they looked really bad....and they were the last 2 games of the season.

The talent is certainly there for an upper half finish next season. This year, the Bulldogs were without a true point guard (both true point guards on the team were out for all or most of the season), and every player on the team was a first or second year player. Bulldogs also had 4 players (Wiseler, Madison, Jeffers, Clarke) who missed large portions of the season with injuries, and had one starter (Van Deest) who was playing hurt all season.

If the team is reasonably healthy, and the young guys progress the way you'd expect them to, then that 4th place prediction is a possibility.

I predict a lot of Valley fans on this board will be rooting for the Sycs to fall flat on their face to shut them the hell up.

I can't imagine why you would make the above statement.

The Trees will be the sole conference champion next season.

The Trees will advance to at least the Sweet 16. With Odum, they could go further.

The Shockers are looking at ninth place.
